Since its introduction in 2012, the Vitamix 5200 blender has become a staple in many home and business kitchens, especially amongst health-conscious individuals, home chefs, and smoothie lovers. In this review, we’ll give you an overview of its features, performance and the pros and cons to help you make an informed decision as to whether a Vitamix 5200 the right blender for you.
Design and Build Quality
Designed and manufactured in America by a family-owned business, The Vitamix 5200 is a simple-to-use, no-nonsense, powerful bender. Available in black, red or white, its tough, BPA-free, 64-ounce (1.9L) plastic container and precision-engineered motor ensures longevity. Sticking to the basics, the controls are user-friendly and intuitive in design. The controls feature a speed selector and a high-speed/variable button that allows you to pulse blend certain receipes get perfect results every time.
The variable speed control allows you to start slowly and gradually increase power to ensure your recipe achieves optimal texture and consistency. The tamper tool helps you push ingredients down towards the blades to prevent air pockets from building up, this feature helps you achieve optimal smoothness and consistency of blend. The lack of programme buttons and digital display may disappoint some buyers, but how technical does blending need to be?

Power and Performance
At the heart of the Vitamix 5200 lies a precision-built, high-performance, 1380-watt (approx 2.0-horsepower) motor, which is capable of spinning its diamond-cut, hardened stainless steel blades at up to 28,500 RPM (that’s 254 mph!). The high speed enables the blender to tackle a variety of tasks, from making silky-smooth smoothies to pulverizing nuts, grains, and frozen items such as ice cubes and frozen fruit.
Easy to Clean
As well as being simple to use, cleaning the blender is also very easy. After serving, just add some warm water to the container, drop in a little dish soap, then blend on high speed for 30–60 seconds and voila!

From Hot Soup to Ice-Cream
In addition to perfect smoothies, the Vitamix 5200 makes light work of blending soup, ice-dream, dough, batter, nut butter and even coffee beans. Because of their incredibly powerful motors, all Vitamix blenders are capable of creating heat through friction. Blending cold ingredients for a few minutes on high speed will give you hot and ready to serve soup. Each machine also comes with a Vitamix recipe and nutrition booklet.
